A Malaysian company has offered to build a $1-billion railway that will connect UP Diliman in Quezon City to Quiapo, Manila, according to a report by Steve Dailisan on GMA News’ “Balitanghali” on Friday.

Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez met with the Malaysia-Philippines Business Council (MPBC) during the two-day official visit of President Rodrigo Duterte in Malaysia.

“We feel that business will be even better in the Philippines going forward with this new administration,” said Tan Sri Azmil Kahlili Bin Dato Kahalid, chairman if MPBC.

Lopez said other projects were discussed with the council, including energy, agri-business, infrastructure, technology, and banking.

“By proximity and close ties in the region especially the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations), this might be the area to focus on strengthening this part of the world,” the Cabinet official said. — Ted Cordero/VDS, GMA News
