KUALA LUMPUR, 17 April 2016 – Infrastructure conglomerate AlloyMtd Group is determined to complete another project in the Philippines despite its withdrawal from the US$2.65 billion (RM10.5 billion) Laguna Lakeshore Expressway Dike project bid last month.

The Group through its local unit, MTD Philippines, Inc. will embark on the two “mini Putrajaya” projects in the Philippines with a combined contract value of approximately close to RM400 million.

The projects are the construction of a New Government Center and Business Hub Project in Bataan Province and the development of a Government Center and Business Hub Project in the Nueva Ecija Province.

In Bataan, AlloyMtd Group will construct and develop among others, a new provincial government capitol building; new Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO) buildings grade A, B and C; and a 142-room business hotel with commercial and retail area.

Meanwhile, the Group will develop a mix of government offices with retail and commercial space, 2 BPO buildings which will cater to 4,000 Call Center seats and a business hotel with 75 rooms surrounding a 2,500 square meters public square or Public Plaza in the Nueva Ecija Province.

The construction of a New Government Center and Business Hub Project in Bataan Province will be completed by 2018, while the development of a Government Center and Business Hub Project in the Nueva Ecija Province by 2017. When completed, the projects will serve as the catalyst for economic growth in both provinces. These two projects come after AlloyMtd Group completed the first concept of Putrajaya i.e. Malaysia’s administrative capital in Calabarzon in 2014. As such, the Group is set to expand the same concept, which is modeled after Putrajaya, to other regions in the republic.

Commenting on the projects, Dato’ Dr Azmil Khalid, President & Chief Executive Officer of AlloyMtd Group in a statement said that the Group is very much committed to deliver both projects to the respective Provincial Government of Bataan and Nueva Ecija on time.

“These two projects are another feather in the cap for the group’s initiatives in the Philippines which further recognize the group’s capabilities,” he said after clamping a ceremony of demolishment and topping-off formality as a mark to develop both projects in the Philippines last Wednesday.

Azmil who is also the President of the Malaysia-Philippines Business Council (MPBC) also said: “The Philippines is a major business focus for the Group in the region and when I was asked to become the President of the Council, I feel proud that AlloyMtd Group is leading by example in terms of our commitment to invest in this country. The Group is also one of the pioneers to ensure Malaysian investors come to the Philippines,” he said.

MPBC, which was established on May 7, 2014 is a platform for Malaysia and the Philippines to collaborate in promoting trade and investment to sustain the economic and industrial growth. It will also act as a focal point for any business community and professionals looking for information to perform business in the Philippines. Besides that, the council had received the endorsement from International Trade and Industry Minister, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, who had wanted to see the rebirth of the council to ensure enhanced trade activities between the two countries.

AlloyMtd Group has a strong presence in the Philippines; having successfully built, operate and manage the 36-kilometer South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) stretching from Alabang to Santo Tomas. It is also responsible for the design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of the Philippines’ first ever one-stop government centre called the Calabarzon Regional Government Centre (CRGC) in Laguna for 30 years.

AlloyMtd Group is the merger between MTD Capital Berhad and Alloy Consolidated Group, which collectively has a long established track record in civil engineering and construction, manufacturing, infrastructure development, infrastructure concessions, energy, port operations, real estate and property development, operations and maintenance.

Besides operations in the Philippines, AlloyMtd Group has international presence in other 15 countries notably Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, the U, UK, Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, India, Chile and China.

Ends.
