KUALA LUMPUR, 24 JANUARY 2020 – The development of One Crown Place (OCP) by Malaysian infrastructure conglomerate MTD Group, which will be one of London’s most notable development, is set to complete by 2021 with the successful completion of the construction phase on the final floor of the 33-storey southernmost building.

Towards this, MTD Group today announced the topping-out of the project.

Embracing the old-meets-new character of the City of London and Hackney, One Crown Place is a welcome contrast to the capital’s many glass towers, artfully combining original heritage buildings with striking modern architecture from Kohn Pederson Fox (KPF). The development will deliver a total of 246 private apartments and a fully restored Georgian terrace which will be transformed into a 41-room luxury boutique hotel, 140,000 sq ft of premium office space and retail units totaling 7,000 sq ft will also be delivered as part of the scheme.

External work on the residential towers is well underway at One Crown Place, revealing the scheme’s unique and characterful design, and interior fit-out of the apartments has begun followed by the hotel fit-out later this year. The scheme is due to complete in Q1 2021.

Global property firm CBRE was appointed by MTD Group in 2015 as development manager and to market the site’s 246 private apartments and 140,000 sq ft of commercial space.

AMTD London Development Co Ltd’s Director, Tee Kim Siew said: ‘We are very pleased to announce the topping-out of this iconic mixed-use development in Central London. This is a major milestone for MTD Group and demonstrates our commitment to delivering this landmark scheme to the highest standards. We look forward to continuing to work alongside Mace, a global construction firm appointed as the main contractor at One Crown Place to realise our vision for the development and see them forge ahead with the fit-out of the apartments and hotel during this first half of the year.’

AMTD London Development is a subsidiary of MTD Group undertaking the OCP project.

Gareth Lewis of Mace said: ‘After working on the construction phase of One Crown Place, we’re proud of what we have achieved so far and thrilled to celebrate this project milestone on schedule. This project represents a complex construction challenge, and I’m very proud that our hard work will deliver such an iconic new skyscraper for London. The next chapter of construction has commenced in full force and we’re excited to work with MTD Group and our supply chain partners to bring this project to completion next year.’
