East Coast Expressway Launches Chinese New Year Safety Campaign
Bentong, 27 January 2014 – Concession holder of the East Coast Expressway (ECE), ANIH Berhad today launched its Safety Campaign to mark the start of the highway’s preparation for the Chinese New Year ‘balik kampung’ exodus.
Director, ANIH Berhad, Ir. Wan Razali Wan Muda said, “The ECE Safety Campaign aims to educate the public on a safe travel while using the expressway during the festive season. A Time Travel Advisory is issued to motorists to enable them to plan their journey and avoid the peak period.”
Wan Razali added, “Our LPT RONDA Patrol Team will take 24-hour surveillance along the ECE to render assistance and guidance to highway users during the Chinese New Year period. The ECE Safety Campaign is one of the Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in our efforts to strengthen the ties within the community along our highway corridor.
At hand to grace the event was Chairman of MCA Pahang, YBhg Dato’ Hoh Khai Mun and community leaders namely the Officer in Charge of Police District (OCPD), Yang DiPertua Majlis Perbandaran Bentong and District Officer of Bentong. The entourage joined in the flagging-off of LPT RONDA Patrol Team and Highway Police Team to commemorate the safety campaign.
YBhg Dato’ Hoh Khai Mun also officiated the Chinese New Year celebration with a symbolic ritual of “Yee Sang” and gave “angpow” to 60 less fortunate community from Pusat Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti Ceria and Pusat Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti Harapan, Bentong as a tradition in Chinese community.
